Spring is knocking on the door. With warm sunny days and below freezing nights, the freeze/thaw cycle has begun. This means that spring skiing and a more stable snowpack are upon us. It has been such a great season as we have been seeing lines fill in bigger than ever and stoke is at an all-time high.
More sunshine in the forecast and Mark Koelker hit me up wanting to get a ski down one of our local gems, the Coin Slot. As always I was game for the tour. The CS has been seeing a lot of ski traffic this season and I can't blame anybody for it because it is in probably the fattest I have ever seen. And so at about 8 o'clock I met up with Mark and Wayne Bolte at the TH and we made quick work to the saddle. Other than a shitty, frozen, and slick skin-track the approach was quite pleasant as there was beautiful lighting and great temperatures throughout the morning.

John Adgate was across the interstate perched up on a knoll ready to video us which was super awesome of him to do. So once on the ridgeline we harnessed and geared up and headed down to our anchor. I dropped some a rope and down we went. Being that John was filming us we decided to each run the slot top to bottom. I always love a T to B line. I let Mark and then Wayne drop first as it as their first time in the chute and watched them slay the first half of the line. Both Mark and Wayne stopped in at the bottom of the slot and once I got the clear call from John, down I went. The snow quality wasn't horrible but the slot itself was definitely somewhat bumped out from the weekend skiers. Jump turn after jump turn down the slot led me past Mark and Wayne and into the apron. Open up some turns, cut through some trees, and out on some pillow drops far skiers left. Pop, pop, pow pow down some rad drops before opening up the last few turns down to the bikepath. I look back to see them both rip down with cheesed out grins and we slap hands and look back up at our line. It was awesome getting the line in top to bottom and I could see how stoked they were as well. Also stoked to see how the footy turned out and thanks again to John for filming! Didn't take pics of course so I pulled stills off the GoPro...
It never gets old, thats forsure!
