Coin Slot Couloir is a novelty ski right outside of Frisco, CO. Thousands of people drive by this hidden little gem everyday. It requires an abseil of about 60 ft or so to gain access to the chute.
I had been wanting to hit this one for awhile and finally the conditions seemed right and so Mike Bannister and I set out to make it happen. After a quick meet at Blue Moon Bakery we dropped our shuttle car and headed over to the TH.
This trail gets packed down pretty good due to the fact that it's right outside of town, so off we went up the steep trail to the top of Mt Royal.
After gaining the ridge we harnessed up and I threw the splitboard back together and down the backside we went in route to our entrance. Once we found our spot we set our anchor and the fun was about to begin!!
Once we dropped into the couloir, Mike found a good rock anchor and belayed me down for a couple slope cuts and I dug a pit. Conditions proved to be stable and now it was game on!
