Thousands and thousands of people drive by this line daily through the I-70 corridor and by most goes unnoticed. Mostly all but the elite group of backcountry skiers and mountaineers alike who will gawk at this beauty of a mountain. Personally, I drive by this gem twice a day and it never gets old as I always know where to look while passing the Bakerville exit on 70. Years and years pass and I finally jump on the opportunity to ski her.
Finally a day off from rafting and I try to get a buddy to hop on board. Greg Dumas had the day off and was down to give her a go so we set off from Dillon around 5am en route to Stevens Gulch. We were able to drive up about a mile past the Grizzly Gulch rd. and from there we hiked and eventually started skinning until we reached the summer TH and beyond towards the saddle of Grays and eventually the summit of Torreys at 14,275ft.
