Dragon's Tail Couloir
(Flattop Mountain)
Group/Date: Zack Novak and Mirza Peljtoon Jan 13th 2015 After over a week of high pressure I figured that there was some aspects that were starting to stabilize a bit and was hoping to find some steeper terrain to ski. Sure enough there were some like-minded folks out there and I talked to a few people that had recently skied Dragon's Tail in the park. A few hours drive from Summit I still was eager in heading that way and giving her a go and so talked to Zack Novak who was willing to join. Then we also ended up meeting Mirza Peljto at the top of the couloir. Great skiing with you man! I haven't spent much time in the park but every time I do it just makes me want to come back for more! A 5:15 departure from Dillon we found ourselves entering into the park and on the trail by 8:30. A sunny and beautiful day lay ahead. |
45 minutes later we found ourselves at Emerald Lake staring up at this beauty!
Skinning shortly transitioned to booting.
Conditions seemed to be ideal. We dug a quick pit and found about 3-4 inches of fresh on top of over a 60cm layer of finger dense snow. Feeling good we headed onward and upward!
Then it was time for the fun!!
